About the event

The workshop will invite you to nurture the connections with loved ones after they have passed away through the objects, memories, people, and places that were left behind. Through an open dialog and creative activities, we will explore different ideas of mementos as communal acts of sharing and collective healing. Optional: bring a memento (object, photograph, memory, etc.). Open to all ages.

The process is in connection to the multi-media dance performance “Memento Forest — Katami” to be presented at NOHspace, June 5-6, 2026. The workshop participants will receive a complimentary ticket to the performance.

The workshop is supported by US Japan Cultural Trade Network, California Arts Council, Zellerbach Family Foundation, and JCCCNC.
