The Paths We've Blazed

The APA Heritage Foundation and APICC invite you to “The Paths We’ve Blazed - How the I-Hotel Ignited the APA Arts Scene."

The Ethnic Studies Movement and the eviction of seniors from the I-Hotel gave rise to a generation of Asian American artists who responded to the challenges of protecting their community, and in doing so birthed Asian American arts in the Bay Area and beyond. This exhibit will be looking back at the story of the I-Hotel and three critical organizations that are celebrating milestone anniversaries in 2022: Kearny Street Workshop (50), Asian Improv aRts (35) and API Cultural Center (25) who were propelled and shaped by these historic events. We will be premiering a new video featuring Nancy Hom, Francis Wong and Pamela Wu-Kochiyama, telling their stories of how the I-Hotel shaped their leadership, artistry, and activism.

On view through June 30, 2022
