What if we could approach AAPI histories and experiences in a way that moves beyond facts and statistics? To creatively explore and document narratives of AAPI lives and rewrite a history that has largely been obfuscated and exoticized by the white gaze. What if we could experience AAPI lives from the past in an engaging, lively manner that both educates and entertains?
Poets Shikha Malaviya, Preeti Vangani, and Maw Shein Win strive to do all of this and more through their poetry performance, Subverting the Hyphen: Embracing AAPI Multiplicities through Poetry, celebrating the diversity of Asian American diasporic lives.
