QUEER as FUCK: Launch Party!

IMG_6514.JPG

Happy Pride Month!  Come and celebrate the gayness of June at the QUEER as FUCK festival launch party!

“Queer as fuck”, defined as a state of being more queer than most, perhaps the queerest of them all, is honored during the QUEER as FUCK festival, with a focus on the diverse power of black box theater, sharing stories of love, sex and politics of living life as a queer person of color and the experiences of allies in the community.

The gay affair will showcase at the iconic Bindlestiff Studio, and feature works by…

Oakland-based visual artist Althea Solis.  A comics artist, painter, writer, and teacher, Solis finds inspiration from the tangled history of Filipino-American identity and queer sensibilities.  She has garnered awards and honors from the Stanford Arts Institute for the foundational work for Wanderlust, a full-length science fiction graphic novel.

San Francisco-based comedian Irene Tu.  She was named one of the “Bay Area’s 11 Best Standup Comedians” in 2016 by the SFist and has been featured in numerous comedy festivals including SF Sketchfest, Limestone Comedy Festival, and Crom Comedy Festival.

Drag performer Kristi Yummykochi. A member of the Rice Rockettes, an Asian-American drag performance troupe founded in 2009, Yummykochi emphasizes that drag has “helped him come to terms with his true identity without feeling the constant pressure or need to feel judged.”

Comedian Justin Lucas, Solo Performer Tatiana Chaterji, and Tunes by DJ SlumB will also be featured at the event.

Hosting the raucous party will be comedic genius Kat Evasco.  writer, stand up comic, and performing artist living and working in San Francisco. She co-created and co-produced the BAKLA SHOW I & II, highlighting experiences of the queer Filipino community. Evasco is currently touring her autobiographical one-woman show, Mommy Queerest.
