  • Vanishing Chinatown: The World of The May’s Photo Studio

APICC is proud to fiscally sponsor the upcoming film project Vanishing Chinatown: The World of The May’s Photo Studio (formerly "Trashed: The Lost World of May's Photo Studio"). Donations to the project can be made on this page through APICC as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

From the producers of Vanishing Chinatown:
Vanishing Chinatown: The World of The May’s Photo Studio tells the story of hundreds of photographs serendipitously rescued from a San Francisco Chinatown dumpster. The work of  The May’s Photo Studio documents an immigrant community becoming westernized, exploring themes of identity, family ties, and racially-based laws, specifically the Chinese Exclusion Act. The artistry of the photographers bring the Cantonese opera to life as well, presenting a Chinese community through the eyes of these important Chinese-American photographers.
