10,000 Steps

Yet another unsung hero whose story inspires!  In 10,000 Steps, a play by Jeff Gillenkirk, quirky, feisty Connie King  promised the Chinese delta levee builders that one day they would own the land beneath their homes.  Hear how she tended to the aging Chinese bachelors who reclaimed 88,000 acres from swampland, yet were forbidden to own any land at all.

Wang draws on her background in modern dance, ethnic dance, theater, and playwriting.  With lyricism, and rhythmic and visual aesthetic, her performances stimulate the imagination with seamless movements. Using evocative visuals, Wang will showcase how the play’s characters made their town colorful and their own.
