Woo was one of the most prominent Bay Area artists associated with the 1950s and ’60s development of abstract expressionism within the Asian American community. His artwork reflects the rhythm and movement of Chinese calligraphy, using linear variation, contrasts, and structure to translate line into landscapes, figures, or the abstract. The exhibition touches on a long career in oil paintings, watercolors, and woodcuts.
