The World Premiere of Chains of Color is an extraordinary journey into the unknown, unusual and sparsely documented relations of African Americans and Japanese Americans. This groundbreaking performance features the multi-faceted talents of Somei Yoshino Taiko Ensemble (SYTE) in collaboration with world-renowned choreographer/dancer Robert Moses. Moses’ powerful blend of athletic technique, rhythmic complexity and gestural detail combined with SYTE’s dynamic approaches to taiko-based music, movement and original instrumentation creates a performance that is a dramatic testimony to our lives, our common histories and struggles.
